Accounts Payable Officer - Modbury
Hourly Rate: $52-$57 per hour (based on experience)
Full-time | Short-term assignment until February 2026

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a leading council in Modbury. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong AP skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience in council or government environments. You'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely payables and supporting smooth financial operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Accounts Payable, Receipting & Reconciliation Duties:
* Complete daily receipting
* Process AP invoices and credit notes
* Set up new creditors and maintain existing records
* Manage EFT payment runs
* Process elected member allowances and reimbursements
* Check and reconcile creditor statements
* Handle internal and external customer enquiries
* Complete end‑of‑month reconciliations
* Process returns through payment gateways
Team & Organisational Contribution:
* Demonstrate council values and positive behaviours in all interactions
* Collaborate with the team to improve services and procedures
* Follow organisational policies, guidelines, and legislation
* Identify and report risks
* Participate in audits, reviews, and implement improvements
* Support performance planning and feedback processes
About You
* Experience in end‑to‑end accounts payable
* Skilled in TechOne (cia) or similar financial systems
* Council experience highly regarded
* Strong accuracy, communication, and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to work confidently and learn on the job
