Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

**The Department**

The MSBase Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organisation that owns and operates a unique international collaborative registry - The MSBase Registry. MSBase is designed for clinicians working in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neuroimmunological diseases (NIDs).

The MSBase Foundation supports Registry members by providing freely available data-entry tools, scientific and governance support. The Registry commenced in 2004 and has accumulated over 85,000 patient records from 40 countries and is the largest organised global repository of longitudinal, 'real-world' MS patient data. The Registry aims to advance collaborative outcomes research to better understand neuroimmunological diseases and to improve healthcare for those living with MS or other NIDs.

The MSBase Operations team consists of ten staff who support the daily operational, financial and IT activities of the business, and is led by a highly motivated and dedicated Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, who are also practising neurologists.

**The Role**

The Head of Finance (HoF) will be responsible for the efficient and smooth running of financial matters, contract management, insurance, risk and the annual MSBase audit.

The HoF will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the finance function and will draft the quarterly financial reports for the board. They will present the reports and supporting information to the board to ensure sound governance. They will also liaise with the auditors to ensure a successful audit and will present the findings of the audit to the board annually.

The Board of Directors is an international group and a number of MSBase sponsors are based internationally, as such, we are looking for a team player who has the flexibility and willingness to attend after-hours teleconferences as necessary. This role offers great time flexibility, with the ability to divide total weekly hours over multiple days if desired and allows a combination of working from the office and remotely. Tuesdays and Thursdays in office is strongly preferred.

The role requires experience in financial management, contract lifecycle management, compliance, audit, and risk. The HoF should have excellent communication and leadership skills, exercise critical thinking, excellent judgement and be highly organised and driven for success. An appropriate qualification, and a minimum of 5-years' experience is essential and a background in the Not-for-profit and/or health sectors is desirable.

**Skills/Experience**
- Minimum of bachelor's degree qualification or equivalent in commerce, finance, business, law or accounting, in addition to a CA or CPA qualification.
- An understanding of reporting requirements for Australian not-for-profit companies.
- A high-level understanding of corporate governance principles.
- A high-level understanding of financial reporting and management, including use of accounting packages such as XERO.
- Demonstrated managerial or leadership experience.
- Demonstrated strategic, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated, highly organised with proven ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful, and adaptive to change.
