Community Support Coordinator

Girrawheen Senior High School (SHS) is proud to be part of the Connected Community School trial, a four‑year, Department of Education initiative that is part of the Better and Fairer School Agreement. Commencing in 2026, the trial aims to connect our students, families and school community with services and supports to improve education and wellbeing outcomes.

The Role

We are seeking a Community Support Coordinator to join our Connected Community School trial team. This is a unique opportunity to shape a whole‑school approach that strengthens partnerships, builds positive community relationships and supports students and their families to improve wellbeing, learning and life outcomes. As Community Support Coordinator, you will develop and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with the school community, other government agencies and local community‑based organisations, including facilitating agreements and protocols with support agencies and employer organisations to assist students and families with accessing service providers.

You will be committed to fostering high expectations and success for all students. The ideal candidate will be a driven and innovative individual with strong interpersonal skills, a positive and caring attitude, and be able to build rapport and trust with students, parents and the wider community. You will be organised, capable of working independently, and committed to working collaboratively.

This role offers the chance to apply your knowledge and experience to the implementation of this new initiative, playing a pivotal role in increasing participation and engagement of students in educational programmes. Responsibilities include developing and implementing responsive intervention strategies, supporting systems tailored to the needs of students, families and staff, and proactively identifying opportunities for improved integration of services.

You will maintain accurate records, case notes, data and reports, contributing to personalised plans that support evidence‑informed practice to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and contributing to trial evaluation.

Eligibility

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

+ Demonstrated skills and experience in working in diverse settings with students and families with significant challenges and needs.
+ Demonstrated well‑developed research, analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to identify and clarify issues and generate strategies to address them.
+ Demonstrated well‑developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and collaborate with individuals across a range of backgrounds and work within a team environment.
