We are looking for a passionate and hardworking **Operator** to join our Water and Sewer Delivery team at Singleton Council. In this role, you'll make a real impact on the everyday lives of people within our community by achieving important outcomes for Singleton to grow and flourish.

**THE ROLE**
Our Water and Sewer Delivery team are a high performing, established crew providing a critical service to the Singleton Community. Working in small teams, they collaborate and cooperate with each other to provide operation, installation, maintenance and repair works for Council's water and sewer distribution systems.
The Network Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining and constructing water and sewer network systems, including planned, reactive and preventative maintenance duties. The position is required to follow instructions, procedures and standards and work in a manner to minimise safety, health and environmental impacts at all times. This position involves interactions with customers, the community, other Water and Sewer service units and business units across the organisation to ensure planned work and future scheduled works are completed successfully and with mínimal disruption.
A typical day might include:
- Independently carry out work relating to the operation, maintenance and construction of water and sewer reticulation including: new mains, fittings and service construction along with property connections, repairs and maintenance, installation, testing, replacement and repairs of water meters, associated pipework and sewer service connection point, sewer main and connection inspection, cleaning, repairs and maintenance and installation and maintenance of Pressure Sewer System / scheme and traffic control;
- Restoration of customer assets after maintenance repairs, such as concrete paths, fences, gates, paving, landscaping, lawns and plants;
- Assist with the location, use and interpretation of plans, drawings, procedures and guidelines specific to the water industry;
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- Certificate III Water Operations qualification (or willingness to obtain);
- Experience in water and sewer, construction and/or plumbing industry;
- Proven experience in ensuring safe work practices in the water and sewer industry or a related field;
- Customer focus with the ability to interact with customers to enable effective service delivery;
- Proof of immunity against Hepatitis A and B and tetanus.

This position is offered on a **Term Contract, fulltime **basis working **76** hours per fortnight for a period of **6 months**. The position works on a team-based roster including a 9-day fortnight and scheduled on-call rotating across the team.
Remuneration for this position is based on **Grade 7** of the salary system which equates to a base salary between **$59,132 - $66,515 **per annum plus award allowances, overtime, on call and superannuation.
