The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a detail-driven People and Culture Coordinator to deliver high-quality payroll and HR administration across the Y Northern Territory. Split approximately 50% payroll / 50% HR, this role keeps our people data accurate, our pay compliant and on time, and our employee experience smooth from recruitment to offboarding. You’ll work closely with the People & Culture Manager, Finance and operational leaders to keep systems humming and improvements moving.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll:
* Process end-to-end payroll, including PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and government reporting.
* Maintain accurate data for starters, changes and terminations (hours, shifts, entitlements).
* Administer payroll and T&A/rostering systems; ensure data integrity and compliance.
* Interpret and apply Awards/agreements/legislation (including multiple roles/classifications).
* Reconcile and remit super, payroll tax and other statutory payments; liaise with funds.
* Submit STP each pay cycle; manage year-end finalisation.
* Process WorkCover, parental leave and other statutory payments/claims.
* Maintain payroll GL mapping and support payroll reporting/audits.
Human Resources:
* Support recruitment: draft ads, prepare contracts and monitor onboarding compliance.
* Coordinate onboarding/offboarding (documentation, inductions, systems access).
* Maintain HRIS/personnel files per privacy and recordkeeping requirements.
* Prepare employment documents (variations, position descriptions, confirmations).
* Respond to HR queries and guide managers on policy/procedure.
* Track compliance (WWCC, licences, visas) and training records; coordinate L&D activities.
* Assist with HR projects, events and initiatives.
About you
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualification in HR, Payroll or Accounting (Cert IV minimum).
* 3+ years payroll processing and HR administration experience.
* Working knowledge of Awards/agreements and employment legislation.
* Proficiency with payroll/HRIS (e.g., KeyPay, Employment Hero) and Microsoft Office.
* High accuracy, organisation and confidentiality; strong communication skills.
* Willingness to travel within the Northern Territory.
Desirable:
* AHRI membership.
* Not-for-profit experience.
