As a Consultant, your primary focus is to assess hazardous materials and chemical, physical, and biological hazards in the workplace, to protect workers' health and provide guidance to clients so they can anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control risks associated with those hazards.You will be based in our Newcastle office and contribute to enhancing environmental health and safety (EHS) standards within workplaces, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of workers, as well as your clients' reputation, meeting regulatory and best practice requirements.We've recently delivered asbestos, HAZMAT, and occupational hygiene consultancy services across a wide range of workplace environments for clients such as:Department of Transport and PlanningDepartment of DefenceHomes VictoriaWestfield Shopping CentresAustralia PostWestpac Banking CorporationAMPOLSafeWorkCSIRO7-ElevenCoca-Cola AmatilNissanToyotaThis is an exciting role with overtime opportunities, great working conditions, and a diverse team of experts to support your career development, including training and mentoring.What you’ll doConduct asbestos and HazMat audits in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential properties, including:Regulatory required condition and re-inspection auditsPre-demolition / refurbishment assessmentsDevelop asbestos monitoring and remediation strategies, and issue clearances.Provide technical guidance during asbestos and lead removal projects.Conduct indoor air quality, mould, and moisture assessments.Perform occupational hygiene assessments for contaminants such as dust, noise, chemicals, etc.Analyze data and prepare technical reports with support from senior staff and specialists.Assist with strategy and business development.About youYou are likely to have tertiary qualifications in a scientific field, environmental management/science, health and safety, or occupational hygiene. Ideally, you will bring:Initiative and competence in technical aspects of the role, with willingness to embrace new challenges.Strong report writing and communication skills.Personal, client, and project management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Flexibility to work remotely, with occasional weekends and overtime.Experience in measuring and assessing occupational hazards or conducting asbestos and HazMat surveys.An Asbestos Assessors License is highly regarded.A full Australian Driver's License if travel to client sites is required.Join our community of talented individuals committed to making a positive impact.
