About The Role
Barwon Health Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service has a significant Lived Experience Team embedded within the Service consisting of family/carer and consumer workers. The Senior Family Carer Consultant will work with the Senior Consumer Consultant as guided by the Lived Experience Director.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the Lived Experience Network and co‑produce the monthly newsletter
* Manage the administration of the Carer Support Fund at MHDAS
* Work as an integral part of the carer LEW at MHDAS
* Provide carer perspective supervision to MHDAS peer support workers
* Assist in MHDAS educational activities designed to promote greater understanding of lived experience work, in particular peer support work, at the service
What We’re Looking For
* Personal lived experience supporting or caring for a loved one who has accessed tertiary mental health services and the ability to use that experience safely and purposefully in supporting the carer LEW
* Learned lived expertise through a minimum of 4 years in a designated carer LEW role (including senior roles)
* Commitment to reflective practice, quality improvement, teamwork, and recognising risk, boundaries and escalation pathways
