About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission:

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system. As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities. It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.

About the Team:

The Compliance Case Management section is part of the Commission's Regulatory Operations Division and responds to non-compliance of providers with their obligations and conditions on registration under the Aged Care Act 1997/Aged Care Act 2024.

The section takes regulatory action proportionate to risk and uses statutory powers based on the capability and willingness of providers to take action to manage risk of harm to aged care consumers. Where providers are unable to demonstrate ability or willingness to mitigate the identified risks in a sustained way, the section will closely case manage the provider, often working with other internal and external stakeholders. The section encourages and promotes compliance through education, information and engagement with providers as part of monitoring activities.

About the Role:

Working with the Director of Compliance Case Management, the position will manage a geographically dispersed team of compliance officers who engage with providers that pose risk to aged care consumers or are non-compliant with their legislated aged care responsibilities. The position provides direct support and leadership across the team.

An ongoing (permanent) position is available with the possibility for Non-Ongoing (Temporary) positions via the merit pool for future vacancies.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

* Lead and manage a geographically dispersed team by identifying gaps and implementing solutions to uplift individual and team capabilities, providing performance feedback, resolving conflicts, and promoting both personal and professional growth.
* Apply in-depth specialist knowledge to make independent, informed decisions and provide technical advice, ensuring compliance with legislative, financial and regulatory frameworks including the Aged Care Act 1997, Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018, and Regulatory Powers (Standard Provisions) Act 2014 while leading or supporting staff to lead highly complex and/or sensitive regulatory engagements with providers.
* Focus on quality assurance to ensure consistent and defensible decision-making that aligns with the Commission's Compliance and Enforcement policy, Regulatory strategy and Decision- Making framework.
* Support and develop the team in drafting regulatory notices and case management that is consistent with set Key Performance Indicators.
* Provide leadership and build the capacity of staff to undertake their roles efficiently and professionally by leading complex monitoring engagements, reviewing documents and providing technical expertise.
* Engage independently and collaborate with stakeholders, provide subject matter inputs to promote regulatory compliance and achieve improved consumer outcomes.
* Provide oversight and strategic leadership for providers under supervision, support the Commission's business and vision, contribute to the compliance group strategic direction, and positively influence outcomes.
* Represent the section and contribute to complex and sensitive discussions and the broader compliance group at internal and external working groups, provider meetings and forums as required.
* Under broad direction, develop extensive project, program, and engagement plans to define focus areas, regulatory approaches, and compliance work programs.
* Contribute independently to budgets, team plans, operational reports, briefings and group policy.
* Support the section and the Director appropriately, including leading staff through change and escalating significant risks and/or critical team needs.

Position Details:

* Salary offered will be between $118,588 - $135,251 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
* Roles are offered on an Ongoing/Non-Ongoing basis, with Non-Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.
* Applications close on Sunday, 28 September 2025, 11:30pm (AEST).
