What You'll Be Doing
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides recovery-focused, person-centered, and culturally competent services, including assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy, and review as part of a multidisciplinary team for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people referred to the service with mental illness, distress, or risk issues.
Selection Criteria
* Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, with demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and established links with the local Aboriginal community.
* Hold a tertiary qualification in Bachelor's Health Science (Mental Health) or relevant registration/eligibility with AHPRA (Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists) or Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality, safe, and connected care to consumers and their families in a person-centered and holistic manner that promotes self-determination and aligns with mental health rehabilitation, recovery framework, and a strengths-based approach.
* High-level communication skills, able to engage with consumers, families, carers, and stakeholders.
* Proficient computer skills with accurate use of Electronic Medical Record Programs, Microsoft Office, and Skype for Business.
* Knowledge of Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions, including those related to Aboriginal people and communities.
* Understanding of legislation and policies relating to mental health care provision, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
* Current unrestricted driver's licence and willingness to drive/travel as required, including long distances and overnight stays.
