EXPERIENCED MALE SUPPORT WORKER NEEDED - IMMEDIATE STARTSEEKING EXPERIENCED MALE SUPPORT WORKER FOR IMMEDIATE STARTStriving Ability Support Services is a small, very unique participant owned Not For Profit Company which allows for greater choice and control for the participant.About the Role:We are currently seeking 1 or 2 experienced MALE support workers with experience in working in disability or a social work/residential housing setting to work with a 12 year old boy who loves all things in the great outdoors. We need people who are physically fit, active, energetic, enthusiastic, and professional individuals and that have a solid experience in the disability sector to join our team in Wodonga to assist in supporting this young man over a 7 day period. There are currently approximately 35hrs available over specific hours.The position is an immediate start for candidates with the specific skills.Reporting to the Service Coordinator, you will be required to support this young man to reach his individual goals through meaningful and fun activities in the family home and out in the community. Some outdoor activities may include but are not limited to: swimming, kayaking, bike riding, walking, parks, cinemas, 4 wheel driving. There are also personal and independent skill development goals for around the home.As a Support Worker you will:Be respectful and communicate well with family members of those who you work with as you will be working in the participants family home.Be able to think on your feet and be able to adapt to different situations.Support the young man we care for to grow their skills basis and abilities to perform tasks to help live a meaningful and good lifeSupport to develop and maintain independence and safety. This may be through personal care and hygiene, health and wellbeing, meal preparation or supporting them to access the community and activitiesImplement Behaviour Support Plans aimed at supporting the young man who demonstrates challenging behaviours to achieve their goalsImplement routines and structures set out by Allied Health Teams and the family.Please note that you may be required to work morning, afternoon and sleepover shifts depending what will be required of the participant which will include some weekend and public holiday shifts too.Some travel may be required, however a work car will be provided for this when required.Criteria:A minimum of 1 year working in the industry - MANDATORYPhysically fit and activeknows how to build rapport with childrenSkills to manage Behaviours of Concern in line with a Behaviour Support PlanUnderstanding of restrictive practice policiesExperience with Mental Health is desirableExperience with Autism is desirableThe ability to develop a positive relationship with the participantThe ability to work with children with disabilitiesExperience with psychosocial and complex and challenging behavioursAble to work in a fast paced environmentNDIS Worker Screening Check - MANDATORYCurrent Drivers Licence - MANDATORYVictorian Working With Children's Check - MANDATORYFirst Aid Certificate is desirableCert III in Individual Support or Cert IV in Disability (or equivalent) is desirableWhat we can offer:Well above award wages + above award sleepover rate + allowances.
