McLean Farms is seeking a Cage Free Poultry Hand to join our team at Hopevale. This role is essential to maintaining bird welfare, egg quality, and the smooth day to day operation of our cage-free sheds.
About the Role
You will be responsible for egg collection, bird husbandry, shed cleanliness, and general operational support. This is a practical, physically active role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Collecting floor eggs prior to running egg belts, with a second collection later in the day
* Monitoring and recording daily egg production
* Checking birds to ensure access to feed and water at all times
* Monitoring shed conditions, including lighting and equipment
* Identifying sick, injured, or deceased birds and responding appropriately
* Cleaning sheds and equipment to maintain hygiene and biosecurity standards
* Assisting with minor repairs and reporting maintenance issues
* Using consumables efficiently and minimising feed wastage
* Supporting general farm operations and completing tasks within required timeframes
About You
* Comfortable working in a poultry and farm environment
* Physically capable of performing manual tasks
* Reliable, observant, and able to follow instructions
* Committed to animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace safety
* Willing to learn and work as part of a team
