In this role, you'll:
Join our Major Events team, where you will lead the development and delivery of transport plans for major events that shape how people move across NSW.
Your work will drive how multi-modal transport networks operate during some of the state's most complex and high-profile events. From large-scale celebrations to major planned events, you will bring together data, stakeholders and operational planning to ensure safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes.
You will play a key role in translating strategy into real-time operations, supporting both the planning and delivery phases, and contributing to continuous improvement across the network.
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of multi-modal traffic and transport management plans for major events and planned activities
- Coordinate with internal teams, operators and government agencies to ensure integrated and effective event planning outcomes
- Apply traffic engineering principles, data analysis and operational insight to inform planning decisions and optimise network performance
- Facilitate planning forums and stakeholder engagements to align approaches and resolve complex issues
- Prepare high-quality briefings, reports and advice to support senior decision-making and government requests
- Support transport operations during major events and incidents, including contributing to real-time responses and post-event evaluations
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen team capability.
This is a permanent full time position ideally located at our Newcastle office, although other major regional hubs may be considered. Due to the operational nature of this role, you will be required to work outside of normal business hours, weekends and public holidays.

About you
Your expertise in transport operations planning enables you to design and deliver solutions that perform under pressure. You are known for your ability to bring structure to complex, multi-modal environments and create plans that are both practical and adaptable.
Your strong track record in managing major events or complex operational scenarios allows you to confidently coordinate stakeholders, balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes in time-critical environments. You bring a deep understanding of transport networks and how they operate in real-world conditions.
You are recognised for your ability to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving to dynamic challenges, using data and operational insight to inform decisions and improve outcomes. Your communication skills allow you to engage effectively at all levels, from operational teams through to senior stakeholders.
Your experience in traffic or transport planning, combined with sound project management capability, enables you to manage planning activities from concept through to delivery. You are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, bringing initiative, sound judgement and a strong customer focus.
You hold relevant tertiary qualifications or bring equivalent experience, along with a willingness to work flexibly, including outside standard hours, to support major events and operational requirements.
