An opportunity is available for an experienced HR professional to step into a short-term Senior HR Business Partner role within a small, purpose-driven Australian Government agency. This 6‑week contract will see you providing immediate support across a range of HR functions, working closely with leaders and staff to deliver high‑quality advice, manage key processes, and ensure continuity across HR operations.
Responsibilities
Managing recruitment, selection and onboarding activities
Providing high‑level HR advice aligned with APS frameworks and best practice
Supporting performance management, employee relations and case management
Assisting with HR strategy, policy updates and organisational change initiatives
Partnering with business areas to respond to workforce needs and HR queries
Supporting work health and safety responsibilities
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of APS or similar HR frameworks
Demonstrated experience providing advice on industrial relations and HR policy matters
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues tactfully
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
A proactive and adaptable approach
A relevant qualification in HR or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) is desirable
