Maintenance Fitter (Level 2) – Food Manufacturing
Location: Laverton North
Shift: Afternoon Shift – 4:00pm to 12:00am
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a minimum Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Turner) to join a fast‐paced food manufacturing environment at our Laverton site. This is a hands‐on role focused on maintaining, repairing and improving plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
About the Role – Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plant equipment in line with trade practices. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant equipment
* Diagnose faults and repair mechanical systems efficiently
* Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Conduct safety checks in line with maintenance schedules
* Support continuous improvement and equipment upgrades
* Participate in on‐call roster for breakdown support
* Work closely with production, QA and maintenance teams
About You
* Minimum Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent trade qualification
* Previous experience as a Maintenance Fitter within manufacturing or food processing environments
* Strong fault‐finding and problem‐solving skills
* Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
* Good communication skills and strong team focus
* Commitment to safety, quality and compliance
Desirable Skills
* Welding and fabrication experience
* Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and boilers
* Forklift, EWP or confined space tickets
