We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support reporting and analytics initiatives within a public sector environment. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You will work closely with data engineers, governance teams, and business users to ensure reporting solutions align with data governance principles, visualisation best practices, and organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
* Build and manage semantic models to support enterprise reporting
* Write and optimise SQL, DAX, and Power Query for performant analytics solutions
* Apply data visualisation best practices to communicate insights effectively
* Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reporting solutions
* Ensure reporting aligns with data governance and quality standards
* Support continuous improvement of reporting and analytics processes
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Demonstrated experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports
* Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX, and Power Query
* Solid understanding of data visualisation principles and best practices
* Experience creating and managing semantic models
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Understanding of data governance principles
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Familiarity with medallion architecture or equivalent data layering approaches
* Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices
* Experience with Azure Databricks or other cloud data platforms
* Background in insurance or other highly regulated environments
* Experience analysing and visualising financial data
* University degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
