Miwatj Health is an Aboriginal Community‐Controlled Health Service established in 1992, delivering culturally appropriate primary health care to over 6,000 people across East Arnhem. With clinics, outreach teams, and offices in Nhulunbuy and Darwin, we are committed to supporting Yolŋu‐led community health and wellbeing.
About Milingimbi Community
Milingimbi is an island community off the coast of north‐east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, approximately 440 km east of Darwin and 200 km west of Nhulunbuy (Gove). It is a predominantly Yolŋu Aboriginal community of around 1,100 people, where culture, connection to Country, and community wellbeing are central to daily life over 93% of whom are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
This is a very remote location with no road access, with travel by light aircraft only. Working in Milingimbi offers a unique opportunity to contribute to holistic, community‐led care. Experience in remote or Aboriginal community settings is highly regarded, though not essential.
This role involves working in a remote Aboriginal community. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self‐determination, and an understanding of Yolŋu communities. Requirements include current AHPRA registration, REC/ALS certification, NT‐recognised immunisation certificate, Remote Pharmacotherapeutics (or equivalent), manual driver's licence, and 3–5 years' post‐graduate experience with strong remote clinical skills, including triage, independent practice, and emergency response.
Vaccination & Immunity Screening
Miwatj Health is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace in line with national healthcare standards. All employees are required to comply with our Staff Vaccination and Immunity Screening Policy and provide verified evidence prior to commencement.
