WHO YOU ARE
You will have at least a two years' experience working in a Venue Manager type role in a café/restaurant/qsr environment. Your positive attitude will create a fun working environment for staff and be driven to lead with a hands on approach
Your experience working within busy café environments, catering, events and bar operations in a high volume setting will be highly regarded. Operating Monday to Friday and closed over Christmas/New Years this role is perfect for someone looking for great work/life balance but opportunity to grow within diverse operation

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Management of the Courtyard Café & Bar business unit - increasing sales results, leading by example, marketing this exciting new business, developing and implementing process and procedures
Supervise, lead and manage a team of 20 + FOH staff
Work closely with a dedicated Kitchen team daily
Ongoing coaching, training and the active development of your team
Ensuring customer expectations are exceeded during every interaction with your team
Manage stock & inventory for the venue
Coordinate catering and events for the Courtyard Café with assistance from the USUeats Event Manager
Manage the venue standards, presentation, maintenance and general upkeep
Communicate and deliver a marketing plan for the café
Be highly organized with effective stock control and management of the venue
Continual leadership, development and motivation of team members, baristas and bar staff
Menu development of F&B; on ongoing basis with our Exec Chef and Area Manager
Understand the importance of HACCP, Food Safety and Covid Safe operating procedures
Quality control and presentation of food service & bar areas
Maintain a clean and presentable outlet both FOH and dining area

YOU WILL HAVE
At least 2 years' previous venue management experience in a high paced café / restaurant / qsr environment
Significant experience managing catering & events within the venue
At least 5 years' experience working with commercial coffee machines in a high volume workplace (using at least 10kgs of beans per day)
Exceptional grooming and an outgoing personality
Ability to lead staff and maintain productivity when supervising large teams
Exposure to the management of both front of house and kitchen teams
Excellent understanding of both Kitchen and Bar operations
Experience working with draught beer systems and running small bars
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) photo card and certification
Demonstrated experience or understanding of BePOZ Point of Sale system,
Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service and high level of verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience managing large amounts inventory
Solid organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills/experience
Effective time management skills
Understanding of HACCP procedures or food safety programs
Current Food Safety Certificate
Flexibility with regard to hours worked and understanding some nights will be required.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Tertiary qualifications in catering and/or hospitality management
A commitment to and understanding of the Union, its roles and relationship to the University
A general knowledge of industrial and Work Health and Safety legislation
Current full driver's license where applicable
