Komatsu Australia is seeking trade‑qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics (or similar) to join the Field Service Department in Townsville. The role acts as a conduit between the customer, customer support team, and the branch, offering an immediate start within a high‑performing team for the right candidates.
The Opportunity
Field Service Mechanics will perform services, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on Komatsu mobile equipment, ensuring high safety, quality and efficiency. The role involves testing and adjusting machine operation, coordinating site‑based equipment maintenance projects, and generating required technical/service reports (e.g., reports and TSI & warranty claim processes).
Key Responsibilities
* Perform services, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on Komatsu mobile equipment.
* Maintain high levels of safety, quality and efficiency.>
* Test and adjust machine operation and monitoring systems using relevant literature and testing equipment.
* Coordinate site‑based equipment maintenance projects, managing job packet requirements and critical path.
* Generate required technical/service reports (service reports, TSI & warranty claim processes).
What We Are Looking For
* Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or similar.
* A level of technical understanding and function of Komatsu equipment is an advantage.
* Knowledge and previous experience repairing and maintaining earthmoving equipment or components.
* Post‑trade field service experience is desirable.
* Current C category car licence with view to upgrade to MR licence as required.
* Ability to obtain all current tickets including first aid, forklift, work at heights etc.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety with ability to work in remote areas and unsupervised.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and understanding of computer basic systems.
