Maternity Unit (including Level 3 Special Care Nursery)
Multiple Permanent Full Time & Part Time positions and Fixed Term (leave backfill) opportunities available – minimum of 16 hours per week
We currently have opportunities in our Maternity Service for suitably qualified Registered Nurses & Midwives.

We have a number of permanent and fixed term positions available within Maternity and Special Care Nursery, with a choice of 16 to 38 hours per week, exact hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Permanent night duty will also be considered.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse &/or current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
- Demonstrated sound level of midwifery/Special Care Nursery skills and works within safe practice principles
- Understanding of and commitment to the Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI)
- Understanding of current midwifery/nursing practice, including the Department of Health’s Victorian Maternity and Newborn Services Framework
- Commitment to flexibility and innovation in practice including an evidence-based approach to care
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure, handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team workplace
- Demonstrated written and computer skills at the level required to fulfil the role
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) may be required prior to commencement.

The West Gippsland Healthcare Group is a customer focused health organisation providing acute medical and Surgical, Maternity, Emergency, Residential care and Community health services to 45,000 people in the rural, urban residential, agricultural and industrial areas located within the Baw Baw Shire and beyond.
Our Maternity service caters for up to 900 women a year from across the region. As a referral centre to smaller services, we strive to provide care to women as close as possible to their family home. We provide pregnancy care, birthing services (including waterbirth), postnatal and domiciliary, together with a well-established breastfeeding support service.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, a National Police Record Clearance and a valid Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
