The role of a Waste and Collection Operative:
From collecting bins across town, helping customers at our waste facilities, operating a range of heavy vehicles and plant, to keeping sites clean and safe—you'll play a key part in delivering top-quality waste management services to the City of Busselton.
Reporting to the Waste Leading Hand, you will be required to work a variety of shifts including 5:30am till 2:30pm and 7:00am till 4:00pm. You will be required to work every second weekend and work will take place at both of our Busselton and Dunsborough Facilities. Our Waste team also enjoy working a 9 day fortnight and have the benefit of 5 weeks annual leave.
What you'll be doing:
As part of the Waste Services team, you'll be responsible for:
* Carrying out bin collections on scheduled routes.
* Operating a range of plant and heavy vehicles including loaders, compactors, and trucks.
* Inspecting and directing waste at the transfer station and gatehouse.
* Supporting customers with waste disposal and recycling.
* Maintaining clean, safe, and compliant waste sites and plant.
* Performing preventative maintenance and daily checks on equipment.
* Contributing to a positive, team-oriented safe work environment.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Experience operating trucks or heavy machinery (previous Waste experience is a bonus).
* Hold a current HR driver's licence (HC preferred or willing to obtain).
* Hold a current loader ticket (or willing to obtain)
* Ability to work early starts, weekends or public holidays as required.
* Be physically fit, safety-focused and committed to teamwork.
Pre-employment Requirements:
* National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
* White Card
* Proof of right to work in Australia
