The mine is in its 23rd year of operation producing premium PCI metallurgical coal for use in steel manufacturing.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to lead our Technical Services function and support the effective delivery of mine plans, geotechnical management, and operational performance.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role provides critical leadership across geotechnical, geological, reconciliation, and survey disciplines to ensure safe, compliant, and value-driven outcomes for the operation.
This is a key role within the broader Technical team and contributes significantly to production planning, risk management, and long-term strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Lead the development and delivery of Quarterly Production Plans (QPPs) and Budget schedules.
Ensure all schedules align with operational goals, company strategy, and product sales requirements.
Maintain and update the Spry model, including rates, costing analysis, and operational assumptions.
Incorporate stage plans, infrastructure needs, environmental considerations, and risks into all schedules.
Validate scheduling inputs such as utilisation, availability, and weather allowances.
Complete weekly and monthly schedule vs. actual reconciliation and drive corrective actions where required.
Prepare and distribute the weekly production schedule to site leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Record and analyse operational data to continually improve model accuracy and forecast confidence.
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant technical reporting, including monthly and Budget reporting.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical Services team, including planning, survey, and geology functions.
Manage consultants, contractors, and technical resources to meet statutory and operational requirements.
Ensure alignment between mine plans, scheduling, coal flow, CHPP capacity, and shipping requirements.
Review cost impacts of schedules and optimise equipment selection to support value and efficiency.
Identify and improve value-adding processes within Technical Services; eliminate or streamline low-value activities.
Drive continuous improvement through scenario testing, schedule optimisation, and challenging assumptions.
Escalate issues when plans are not being followed and support resolution through appropriate channels.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Experience in mine scheduling, planning, or technical services leadership within open-cut mining.
Strong capability with mine planning/scheduling software (Spry highly regarded).
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a high-performing technical team.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
