Who We're Looking For

The Scaffolding – Scoper / Inspector plays a critical governance, assurance, and planning role that underpins safe scaffold execution and operational efficiency.

This position acts as the central control point for scaffold demand across the site—scoping, planning, inspecting, validating, and documenting all scaffolding activities to ensure compliance, safety, and availability.

You will provide technical oversight, ensure all scaffolds meet statutory and client requirements, and maintain robust documentation to support maintenance, shutdown, and project execution.

This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong technical knowledge, disciplined governance, and effective communication with stakeholders across operations, engineering, planning, and execution teams.

Key Responsibilities

Work Coordination & Demand Control

* Act as the single point of control for scaffold requests, ensuring correct scoping, prioritisation, and scheduling.
* Maintain scaffold registers and request systems (e.g., KSMS/CMMS) for full visibility of scaffold lifecycle and utilisation.
* Prevent reactive or duplicated scaffolds through structured planning and coordination.
-----------------------------------

Technical Inspection & Compliance Assurance

* Conduct scaffold inspections in line with KAEFER procedures and AS/NZS 1576 & 4576.
* Complete tagging, handovers, and re-inspections, including post-weather/event checks.
* Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and track corrective actions
-----------------------------------

Lifecycle Governance of Scaffolds

* Revalidate scaffolds at required intervals (minimum 28 days or per client requirements).
* Ensure all modifications and updates are documented in KSMS, including photos, GPS, load class and gear lists.
* Maintain robust records supporting audits, investigations, and assurance.
-----------------------------------

Engineering & Operations Interface

* Review scaffold designs to ensure alignment with scope and operational requirements before execution.
* Collaborate with Engineering for complex or load-bearing scaffolds.
* Support Supervisors and crews by interpreting drawings, tie patterns, bracing requirements, and load classifications.
-----------------------------------

Documentation, Reporting & Assurance

* Maintain complete inspection, compliance, and handover records.
* Generate scaffold status reports and utilisation data for audits and planning.
* Provide accurate technical data for shutdown preparation and continuous improvement.
-----------------------------------

Resource & Material Control

* Work with yard operations to forecast and manage scaffold material requirements.
* Monitor material condition and ensure non-compliant items are quarantined.
* Support efficient scaffold turnaround and minimise loss/damage.
-----------------------------------

What You'll Bring

* Minimum 3–5 years' experience in scaffolding, inspection, planning or a supervisory role within mining, construction, or heavy industry.
* Strong technical knowledge of scaffolding systems, standards, and inspection requirements.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, engineered designs and compliance documentation.
* Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail with a strong commitment to compliance and safety.
* Confidence working with clients, engineering, and operational stakeholders.
* A proactive attitude and a safety-first mindset.
-----------------------------------

Required Licences & Qualifications

* Current High Risk Work Licence – Scaffolding (Intermediate or Advanced preferred)
* White Card
* Demonstrated scaffolding or inspection experience in mining or similar heavy industry
* Valid driver's licence
* Ability to pass site medical and compliance requirements
-----------------------------------
