A Financial Accountant is required to join our organisation.
About the Role
This position sits within a financial control division, responsible for ensuring financial integrity and fulfilling financial reporting requirements.
The purpose of the role is to utilise sound working knowledge and expertise in financial accounting procedures and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and managing the end to end month end process in a timely and accurate manner.
* Preparing the annual and half-year statutory financial reports in compliance with accounting standards and ministerial directions. This includes the facilitation of the timely completion of external audit processes as well as ensuring that internal and external audit recommendations relating to areas of responsibility are implemented in a timely manner and the remedies maintained.
* Ensuring the mid-year and year-end data feed to the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) for Whole of Government financial reporting is prepared and lodged by the deadlines via DTF's reporting system.
* Providing analysis, advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of accounting standards, other professional reporting requirements, and directions under the Financial Management Act 1994 and other applicable legislations.

Requirements
* Extensive knowledge of preparation, delivery and management of statutory financial reporting with demonstrated experience in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and service providers.
* Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills.
* Good working knowledge of integrated computerised systems and experience in the ongoing maintenance and development of financial and reporting systems.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills, the ability to work independently and meet stringent timelines.
* A relevant tertiary qualification with a focus on financial accounting.
