About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to provide a building approval and residential planning service, including assessments, inspections and certifications that meets our customer's needs and both building industry and corporate standards.
As a collaborative member of the Building Services team, you will use your skills, knowledge, experience and judgement, and guided by established policies, procedures, methods and guidelines to deliver service excellence to our customers and stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:
* Providing a building approval and residential planning service, including assessments, inspections and certifications, within prescribed time limits while operating in an environment with regular interruptions and competing priorities;
* Ensures compliance with relevant legislation, standards and the City's policies and procedures to minimise the need to issue refunds if timeframes are not met;
* Acts as a point of contact for customers and stakeholders and responds to enquiries ensuring that these are addressed, resolved and/or re‐directed for resolution;
* Consistent interpretation of relevant building and planning legislation, standards and local laws; and
* Undertakes research and analysis in assigned areas, reviewing alternative solutions and design principles.
About You
You will be an adaptable and experienced Building Surveyor who thrives working in a busy and change driven organisation. As such, you will be able to demonstrate through your resume and covering letter that you meet the following capabilities:
* Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related field.
* Registration as a Building Surveyor with the Building Services Board of Western Australia (under the Building Services (Registration) Act 2011), typically at: Level 2 (Building Surveyor).
* Eligibility for membership with a professional body such as: Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (optional but advantageous).
* Relevant experience in a similar role;
* Intermediate knowledge and understanding of the Building Act and its application in Western Australian.
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders in a professional manner;
* Valid C Class Drivers Licence; and
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
