Banking Business Analyst - Migration - FTC Location: Melbourne (remote) Contract length: 12 months (definite extensions) Salary: $130-140k super Job Overview: Our client is looking for a highly capable and experienced Business Analyst to join our team and support critical initiatives across banking operations, data transformation, and digital process improvement. This role demands deep domain knowledge in banking (including KYC, lending, cards, deposit accounts, AML, fraud, and complaints), strong end-to-end delivery experience and a data-driven mindset. You will play a key role in driving process change, supporting backend data infrastructure projects, and delivering complex data migration initiatives - all within an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities: End-to-End Business Analysis: Lead full lifecycle analysis from discovery and requirements gathering through to delivery, testing, and implementation, demonstrating strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities. Banking Operations Expertise: Analyse and optimize core banking operational processes, including onboarding, KYC, lending, cards, deposits, fraud detection, AML compliance, and complaint resolution. Data Migration Projects: Contribute to or lead data migration initiatives, including planning, mapping, transformation logic, validation, and cutover strategies. Apply appropriate tools and frameworks to ensure data quality and integrity. Data & Infrastructure: Collaborate with data architects and engineers on backend data infrastructure and architecture projects; assess data flows, storage, and reporting capabilities. Process Uplift & Transformation: Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance existing processes; challenge current approaches thoughtfully and constructively to drive innovation and better outcomes. Agile Ways of Working: Work in Agile squads to deliver value iteratively, contributing to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business, data, operations, and compliance functions to ensure aligned solutions. Cultural Fit & Resilience: Navigate complex, fast-moving environments with professionalism and empathy; manage challenging conversations and conflicting priorities with confidence and tact. Key Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as a Business Analyst in the banking or financial services industry. Strong knowledge of banking products and services: KYC, onboarding, lending, cards, deposit accounts, AML, fraud, and complaints. Experience in data migration projects, including strategy, execution, and tooling (e.g., ETL tools, SQL, Excel, data profiling/cleansing tools). Previous exposure to backend data infrastructure or platform modernization programs. Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve business processes, with a data-driven approach. Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively and lead conversations around uplift and innovation. Comfortable leading analysis in Agile/Scrum environments. Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical and documentation skills (e.g., process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria).
