Midwifery Unit Manager – Maternal Services
Lead with care, inspire excellence, and shape the future of maternal and newborn services at Maitland Hospital. This is a permanent, full‑time position (38 hours per week, salary $140,793.44 per annum, plus superannuation and salary packaging).

What You'll Be Doing
You will lead and manage a clinical services team across the Birthing Unit, Midwifery Group Practice, Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service, and Antenatal & Gynaecology outpatient services. Your responsibilities include:
* Overseeing daily clinical, operational and people‑management functions, ensuring evidence‑based, safe, person‑centred care.
* Fostering a collaborative, positive workplace culture and managing resources to meet service and budget targets.
* Co‑ordinating patient care with internal and external partners.
* Managing workforce functions such as recruitment, induction, professional development and performance management.
* Using service data to drive continuous improvement in line with HNE Health Values.
About You
Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with APRHA, plus post‑graduate management qualifications or demonstrated clinical management experience. You have:
* Proven leadership experience in maternal and newborn services.
* Strong change‑management, conflict‑resolution, and relationship‑building skills.
* Track record of maximising resources and responding decisively to challenges.
* Commitment to service excellence, patient‑focused care and continuous improvement.
* Influencing, negotiating and mentoring skills that support professional growth.
* Passion for creating a workplace culture of excellence, collaboration and respect.
