Salary Range: $122,949 - $135,013 + Attractive Superannuation
The People Services Branch (PSB) is responsible for providing effective HR services to our staff. Our vision is to be a contemporary, professional HR service that delivers effectively and efficiently for the business and has the client at the centre of what we do. We have an EL1 vacancy in our newly formed Learning and Development Section.
Our people are talented, diverse, are interested and knowledgeable about HR, and dedicated to supporting DVA to attract, recruit, develop and retain a professional, engaged and flexible workforce to meet the ongoing operational requirements, and to support veterans and families of veterans. The Branch operates with approximately 50+ staff working across various DVA offices in Australia. In addition, the Branch Executive Team coordinates and manages projects and provides whole-of-branch input and advice to other DVA Branches, Divisions, Deputy Secretaries, and the Secretary.
**Duties**
In accordance with the principles of workplace diversity, Work Health and Safety, participative work practices, APS values and APS Employment Principles, the Assistant Director L&D will:
- Utilise their extensive experience, establish and manage an L&D team and ensure delivery of L&D programs and offerings for DVA.
- Be a visible leader and contributor to branch-wide change, evolving the services offered to internal customers and the way these services can be accessed.
- Provide strategic direction to the team, including the development of strategies, budgets and priorities, and monitor work flow and performance.
- Develop and manage relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage team performance, conflict and identify training needs.
- Mentor and develop staff to ensure both professional development of staff and maintenance of succession strategies.
- Manage high level, complex projects, programs and strategies and be responsible for the achievement of specified outcomes.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
**Notes**
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
