The role

Overview

You put people at the heart and take pride in the impact of your work. You're ready to play an essential role behind the scenes by providing vital support, ensuring seamless project execution, and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation. In this role, you'll help strengthen Aboriginal voices and improve outcomes across Transport for NSW. You will create culturally informed, strengths based communication and storytelling that clearly shows the impact of our work for and with communities, partners and staff. You'll plan, produce and coordinate accessible content and campaigns that highlight progress, support engagement, and align with Aboriginal Outcomes priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Creating culturally informed, strengths based storytelling and materials that highlight Aboriginal advancement for internal and external audiences.
  • Producing clear written content and visual assets that communicate reform intent and outcomes across newsletters, intranet, briefs, stakeholder messages and social media.
  • Gathering insights from audiences, communities and stakeholders to guide communication plans and translate complex reform information into accessible, respectful language.
  • Preparing documentation and submissions that support reform initiatives and demonstrate progress and impact.
  • Planning and delivering campaigns that elevate Aboriginal voices, achievements and community outcomes while capturing and sharing success stories across TfNSW.
  • Coordinating with media, communications and brand teams to ensure consistent messaging, maintain annual communication schedules, and support forums with packs, talking points, presentations and outcome summaries.

About You

You are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. You have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. You are skilled at creating culturally informed written and visual content for diverse audiences, with strong plain English writing and editing skills. You're confident working with Aboriginal cultural protocols and using respectful, strengths based communication with Aboriginal stakeholders. You are proficient with common content and design tools, including Microsoft 365, presentation software and basic graphic/layout programs. You're organised and able to manage content calendars, coordinate tasks and meet deadlines across multiple channels. You're capable of turning research and feedback into clear messages, briefs and campaign materials. You are a natural storyteller who brings visual, digital and cross cultural communication strengths, along with optimism and cross functional thinking.
