Lives Lived Well Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Service provides a client-centred, stepped care model offering individual and group counselling, pre- and post-rehabilitation support, relapse prevention, case management, group programs, care planning and care coordination for clients with AOD dependence, mental health dual diagnosis and complex needs and their families and carers.

Your opportunity

As an AOD Counsellor Case Manager, you’ll engage and support your clients in their ongoing management, counselling, and treatment of AOD dependency and other associated factors. Compassionate and dedicated AOD Counsellor providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use and mental health issues.

Fostering existing community connections and building new collaborations in the Lives Lived Well Cairns outreach settings and counselling. You will contribute to the mission of Lives Lived Well in promoting healthier lives across Kuranda, Mossman, Mareeba, Innisfail, and Edmonton. Advocating for Clients, celebrate with them when they achieve their goals, and help to develop their capacity and confidence.

What does this mean?

You will be delivering AOD counselling, engagement, assessment, and support services to clients. You’ll work alongside your clients as they change their lives for the better, helping them to adapt and to set goals and achieve them.

While this is largely an autonomous role you will be supported by a values-based Team Leader and small team who are energetic and collaborative. This team really lives and breathes our values, so being a team player is a must.

This is full time role working 38 hours per week. The gross hourly pay rate for this role ranges b etween $44.59 - $53.31 per hou r + super + salary packaging benefits, depending on the successful applicant’s skills, knowledge, and experience.

What you’ll bring

This is an integral clinical role, so we are seeking an experienced clinician with experience in counselling and an AOD related field. You will also share a passion for engaging with stakeholders in the community.

In addition, you'll be able to meet the following criteria:

- Tertiary qualifications in a related health services discipline or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients who have AOD issues/concerns
- Applied knowledge in contemporary evidence-based AOD counselling practice, case management, and intake and assessment
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Highly developed communication and community engagement skills
- Reliable, resilient, persistent, and non-judgmental
- Valid Driver's Licence

Nice to have’s:

- Local area knowledge, especially of community service agencies and programs
Experience in delivering education programs and facilitating groups.
