Environmental Field Technician TraineeshipThe OpportunityOur host AECOM is a leading global environmental consultancy delivering professional services across transport, buildings, water, energy, and the environment.This position is based in Newcastle, and applicants must reside within the Newcastle region or surrounding areas.As an Environmental Field Technician Trainee, you will assist with environmental monitoring by collecting air, dust, soil, and water samples from mining sites, power stations, and industrial facilities.
Your responsibilities will also include recording and reporting data, processing samples, completing pre-start checks, attending site inductions, liaising with clients, and using spreadsheets and maps to support fieldwork.This position is not a laboratory-based role and is ideal for those interested in applying practical skills and working outdoors.
Undertaking this two-year traineeship will give you the opportunity to become a qualified Environmental Field Technician and earn your MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.Full-time 2-year contract including paid annual and personal leaveAccess to 1:1 mentoringCompany vehicle (work purposes only), laptop, mobile phoneAbout YouHardworking, trustworthy, committed, and reliablePositive attitude and a genuine interest in the tradeAbility to work in a team and autonomouslyPunctual and reliableTechnically minded with a high attention to detailDriver's licence – Open licence preferable / P2 minimumFlexibility required for occasional after-hours call-outsWhite Card or willing to obtainSuccessfully pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol checkTo apply for an Australian Apprenticeship, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen with an eligible work visa.
