Offer description

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, provides meaningful companionship to older people who might otherwise experience social isolation and loneliness.
As we age our support needs may grow and change. For some people communicating and expressing themselves may become challenging:
Difficulty finding words
Speaking fluently but not making sense
Difficulty expressing their emotions
Getting frustrated with themselves and the people around them.
A caring and positive attitude when speaking to someone can make a big difference.
**We require a special volunteer to connect with a female in her late 80s who is isolated with unique communication needs.**
**The role:**
In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social support visits in their home (a Residential Aged Care Facility). Activities during your visit are based on yours and your clients interests and could include conversation, playing board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community!
**Our Client:**
We have a lovely client in her late 80s who would love some friendly company on a regular basis. She grew up in the country surrounded by animals and once had a beautiful garden open to the public.
