The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is a Commonwealth department responsible for leading Australia's efforts on climate policy, environmental protection, energy transition, and sustainable water resource management.
The First Nations Water Branch sits within the Water Division and focuses on increasing First Nations peoples' access to, and ownership of, water entitlements. This work recognises water as both a cultural and economic asset for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
About the Role
The department is seeking a high-performing logistics and events contractor to coordinate national and regional engagement activities with First Nations groups as part of the Aboriginal Water Entitlements Program.
You will be responsible for travel planning, end-to-end event logistics, sitting fee payments, and operational support to a large-scale engagement schedule. The role requires a system-savvy, detail-oriented organiser who can handle fast turnaround times and work across multiple streams of delivery.
Key Duties
* Lead event planning and delivery across diverse regional locations
* Create and manage travel and accommodation plans, including detailed itineraries
* Coordinate payment of sitting fees and reimbursements to participants
* Liaise with suppliers, venues, and internal teams to ensure event readiness
* Support on-ground delivery including venue setup, equipment logistics, and participant support
* Track and maintain event logistics using departmental systems (e.g., Excel, SAP, SharePoint)
* Document processes, maintain logistical records, and support reporting requirements
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in logistics, events, travel coordination or fieldwork planning
* Familiarity with government systems and protocols, or ability to quickly learn
* Experience working with or supporting First Nations engagement preferred
* High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
* Ability to manage competing demands, rapidly problem-solve, and work under pressure
* Ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to changing schedules and locations
Travel and Requirements
* Must be available for frequent travel, including multi-day regional trips
* Travel required across the northern and southern Murray-Darling Basin
* Driver's licence essential
* National Police Check and Working with Children Check may be required
