About Us
Since opening in Fremantle 100 years ago, we have grown into one of the largest Independent Optometry groups in Western Australia. With a focus on patient health, eye care, customer service and above all, improving patient's quality of life, we strive for a professional and friendly work environment.
About the Role
Abernethy Owens are currently recruiting to expand our front of house team and are looking for a passionate, driven and proactive optical dispenser full-time capacity between our Fremantle and Kardinya practices. Saturday availability is a must in this role, with some flexibility in weekday work pattern and hours. We are interested in both experienced optical dispensers or those new to the optical industry who are keen to learn, expand their knowledge and skills, and grow into the role. Overall, we are looking for someone who has a passion for helping people and a thirst for knowledge.
At Abernethy Owens you will have the opportunity to be part of an independent group that practices cutting edge Optometry whilst building long-lasting relationships with our patients. We have a strong focus on patient care, improving quality of life, professionalism and communication.
At Abernethy Owens, we practice full scope optometry which means you'll see a variety of patients each day, with plenty of diversity to keep you on your toes. The duties and responsibilities of the role will be tailored to your background and level of experience but will be focused on providing support to our team of eye care professionals. Specific duties will include administrative duties, ancillary testing support, frame and lens dispensing, frame adjustments, maintenance and troubleshooting, frame purchasing, stock rotations and control, and store merchandising. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about myopia control and dry eye management, and to get involved with ancillary testing. For anyone new to the industry, the opportunity exists to formally upskill and gain qualification as an Optical Dispenser, supported by Abernethy Owens.
As one of the main faces of the practice you will need to possess excellent customer service skills, work efficiently, be pro-active and build a rapport with our established long-term patient base. You will be working alongside a highly motivated team of eye care professionals with a wide breadth of knowledge. If you enjoy the challenge of matching products to individual needs, thinking outside the box and placing value on quality dispensing you will enjoy the Abernethy Owens environment.
