Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation (KKPAC) represents the Kabi Kabi peoples, the Traditional Owners of lands and waters extending from the North Pine River near Brisbane to the Burrum River near Maryborough, including the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and the Conondale Ranges.
We are seeking an experienced Cultural Heritage Coordinator to play a key role in protecting, managing and delivering cultural heritage responsibilities across Kabi Kabi Country.
This is a pivotal coordination role suited to someone who thrives on managing complex projects, engaging with diverse stakeholders and ensuring strong governance, compliance and follow-through across multiple workstreams.
About the Role
Working closely with the Lead Ranger | Knowledge & Practice, the Cultural Heritage Coordinator will oversee the coordination of cultural heritage projects and activities, ensuring they are appropriately resourced, well managed and delivered with diligence and integrity.
You will act as a central point of coordination between Traditional Owners, proponents, contractors, advisors, government and internal teams, supporting Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), reporting, compliance, invoicing and stakeholder engagement across the Kabi Kabi estate
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and oversee multiple cultural heritage and environmental projects across Kabi Kabi Country
* Maintain project registers, timelines, approvals, reporting and follow-up actions
* Track and monitor recommendations arising from surveys, assessments and reports
* Coordinate meetings and support negotiations with proponents, contractors, legal advisors and government agencies
* Liaise closely with Rangers, Fieldwork Coordinators, Finance and the Board
* Manage quoting, invoicing and project-related administration
* Prepare briefings, reports and updates for Executive and Board meetings
* Ensure strong document control, confidentiality and compliance across all projects
Occasional travel within Kabi Kabi Country and some after-hours or weekend work may be required.
You will bring:
* Minimum 3 years' experience coordinating projects or programs (ideally within cultural heritage, environmental, land management or a related sector)
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Experience working with diverse stakeholders including Traditional Owners, government, legal professionals and project proponents
* High-level written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and executive briefings
* Confidence managing project documentation, registers, invoicing and compliance tracking
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document or project management systems
* Experience working with or for Aboriginal organisations and an understanding of cultural governance
* Tertiary qualifications in project management or a related discipline (would be an advantage)
* Direct experience working on Aboriginal cultural heritage projects (would be an advantage)
