About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Mechanical Service Technician to support the installation and commissioning of Depot Workshop Equipment (DWE) at the Orchard Hills Stabling & Maintenance Facility. This role will suit a hands-on mechanical tradesperson with strong industrial experience who is comfortable working with specialised equipment and supporting commissioning teams.
While primarily site-based, flexibility is required to attend occasional off-site callouts to address in-service equipment failures.
Key Responsibilities:
· Report to the Depot Workshop Equipment Supervisor (from various suppliers).
· Perform installation and commissioning of depot workshop equipment.
· Support installation and commissioning teams as required.
· Operate tools, specialist equipment, and measuring devices safely and effectively.
· Install and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
· Apply plumbing skills where required (desirable).
· Complete timesheets, work orders, and job records in line with company procedures.
· Provide daily updates to the manager on work status, progress, and any required actions.
· Undertake productive tasks when not allocated specific work.
· Support customers, partners, and internal teams as required.
· Participate in training programs including self-learning, computer-based, and on-the-job training.
· Ensure compliance with Siemens and client Safe Work practices and procedures.
· Conduct risk assessments and prepare Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and work instructions.
· Identify and report hazards to supervisors or safety representatives.
· Follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, and site-specific customer requirements.
Essential Skills, Tickets, and Experience:
· Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Machining.
· Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial mechanical environments.
· Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card or ability to obtain.
· Working at Heights certification.
· Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, well-organised, and capable of meeting reporting and documentation requirements.
· First Aid certification.
· Plumbing experience.
· Experience working in rail or transport environments.
