The Water and Environment team in Queensland is seeking a Graduate to Mid-Level Drainage Engineer to join our growing Water and Environment team.
As a Drainage Engineer you will work closely with the Director – Water Resources and Flooding and be supported by a national team of over 100 technical specialists.
The role offers direct involvement in project delivery, structured mentoring, and exposure to increasingly complex stormwater and flood engineering problems across urban development and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Develop drainage designs for urban development and local and state government projects, including preparation of 12D drainage models, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
Design and documentation of detention basins and WSUD systems and integration with broader catchment models where applicable.
Assist in the conceptual and detailed design of civil and stormwater infrastructure such as drainage networks, basins, dams, earthworks and overland flow management.
Contribute to the preparation of engineering reports, drawings, modelling outputs, specifications and cost estimates to support planning approvals and detailed design.
Undertake hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tasks with support from senior engineers, gaining exposure to industry-standard tools and methodologies for stormwater and flood assessment.
Assist with project coordination, documentation and communication with internal teams and external stakeholders as part of multidisciplinary project delivery.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
Experience or strong interest in drainage and stormwater design, particularly using 12D.
Exposure to software such as 12D drainage rational, dynamic and TCF modules, TUFLOW, XPRAFTS or WBNM, HEC-RAS, QGIS and MUSIC is highly regarded but not essential for graduates.
A willingness to learn, take initiative and apply problem-solving skills in a consulting environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
