About The Role
As a Therapeutic Counsellor, you will provide therapeutic and educative counselling to problem gambling clients and their significant others, using evidence-based and person-centred intervention methods. You will also support professional development initiatives and contribute to service promotion and group work activities within the catchment area.
Reporting to the Senior Therapeutic Counsellor, this is a Max-term full-time position contracted for 12 months, based on-site in Kensington, Victoria.
How You Will Make An Impact
* Provide therapeutic counselling to individuals, couples, families and groups across multiple platforms (face-to-face, phone, text and online)
* Conduct ongoing assessments, develop treatment plans and monitor client progress to ensure effective and ethical service delivery
* Deliver education, training and secondary consultation to health and welfare providers supporting people affected by gambling
* Facilitate and coordinate group work programs aimed at supporting recovery from gambling related harms
* Participate in service development, quality improvement, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities
What You Will Bring
* Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related disciplines
* Registration or membership with AHPRA, AASW or PACFA
* Experience delivering therapeutic counselling in a social services environment
* Understanding of gambling related harms, intervention models, service sectors and relevant legislation
* Ability to manage caseloads, maintain accurate records and engage effectively with clients with complex needs
* Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary services
* A current Working with Children Check
* Preparedness to travel within the GHCIN catchment if required
