About the Team

Central to the UTS experience and located at the heart of the city campus in one of the world's top young universities, the UTS Library provides welcoming spaces and services for students and staff to discover and share knowledge, and to learn and explore together. About the Role

The Graduate Librarian / Librarian, Collections and Discovery delivers professional Library services that provide the University community with timely access to high quality information resources supporting research, teaching and learning. The role contributes to the development, acquisition, description, management and discovery of Library collections and the University's research repository, ensuring resources are accessible, discoverable and aligned with open access principles. Working within the Collections and Discovery department, the position applies developing to advanced professional expertise to support and continuously improve collection and discovery services.

Role responsibilities include:

* Investigate user and system requirements to support collection development, discovery, repository and client service activities.
* Contribute to and support projects involving changes to Library functions that may impact other areas of the University.
* Apply Library and University policies, processes and systems to support operational outcomes and service delivery.
* Contribute to the use of research and data analytics to support evidence based decision making and continuous improvement.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive Library services.
* Work collaboratively across teams and units to deliver high quality, client centred services.
* Perform professional collection development, discovery, client service and repository activities using sound judgement.
* At HEW 6 level, apply expert knowledge to optimise service provision, solve complex problems and contribute to strategic and financial planning within the department.
* Perform other duties consistent with the role and classification level.

Skills, attributes, knowledge

* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that support engagement and collaboration in face to face and online environments.
* Well developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* A collaborative, client focused approach and commitment to service quality.
* Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, systems and data analytics relevant to Library environments.
* Understanding of professional standards and practices relating to collections, information resources and repositories in an academic or research library.
* Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

Experience

* Demonstrated experience contributing to a positive team environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve team and Library goals.
* At HEW 6 level, proven experience applying professional expertise to improve services and workflows within a Library or comparable environment.

Qualifications

* Relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

What We Offer

Base Salary Range: $83,906 - $95,989 (HEW5) $97,332 - $105,385 (HEW6) plus 17% superannuation (pension)

The position is full time and will be made on a continuing basis.
