Job Overview
This is a challenging role for an experienced database specialist with expertise in legacy and UNIX-based systems, as well as strong knowledge of batch and online processing environments.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environments, UNIX/Linux systems, and tools. Proficiency in Natural programming language is a plus.
Main Responsibilities
* Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain ADABAS database environments on mainframe (z/OS) and UNIX systems (AIX, Solaris, or Linux).
* Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and optimize database performance, storage utilization, and system health.
* Data Security: Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning/testing to ensure data security and integrity.
* Change Control: Apply patches, upgrades, and implement change control processes for database systems.
* Issue Resolution: Analyze database issues and provide root cause analysis and corrective action.
* System Support: Support batch and online processing environments that rely on ADABAS.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* ADABAS Experience: Hands-on experience with ADABAS database administration.
* Mainframe Environment: Experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
* UNIX/Linux: Experience with UNIX/Linux systems and tools.
* Natural Programming: Proficiency in Natural programming language is a plus.
* Utilities: Knowledge of ADABAS utilities (ADAULD, ADACMP, ADASAV, etc.).
* Job Scheduling: Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, CA-7).
* JCL Management: Strong knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) and batch job management.
* Security Clearance: Australian Citizenship with Baseline security clearance.
