For more information, please visit ucture/medicine/about-us/department-sections/st-vincents-hospital.POSITION PURPOSEThe aim of the position is to assist with day-to-day maintenance of the laboratory and work independently in coordinating laboratory based clinical trials, preparing clinical specimens for transport, coordinating and maintaining ethics and ensuring careful and accurate specimen storage.POSITION DUTIESThe primary duties of the Medical Laboratory Technician are: ? Coordinate blood or specimen sample collection/preparation to meet protocol requirements ? Clean equipment and maintain a sterile laboratory environment to meet protocol requirements ? Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced? Conduct routine tests and analysis of samples? Manage database of clinical processing? Manage the set up of laboratory equipment or tests to meet protocol requirements x Log blood or specimen ? Lab clinical management of clinical trials ? Liasion with clinical trial groups about the running of various clinical trials ? Assist PhD and Masters student as needed in laboratory techniques and experimental design ? Administrative support especially in relation to ethicsINCUMBENT OBLIGATIONS? Perform duties of the position to best of their ability and to a standard acceptable to SVHM?
