Kangaroo Island Council is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and suitably skilled individual to join our dedicated Parks & Gardens team, for a 12 month fixed-term contract (maternity leave). This is a dynamic hands-on role undertaking general works and maintenance in open spaces and facilities.

The role will is classified as a Grade 2 under the Kangaroo Island Council Enterprise Agreement 2024-26, with the inclusion of a 9-day fortnight.
Position Overview
This position works as part of a team, which contributes to delivering Council’s programmed work maintenance tasks to ensure infrastructure, buildings, public facilities, parks and amenities are maintained to a high standard that reflect a welcoming, safe and active community.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about community facilities and committed to delivering quality outcomes. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria for the position:
- SACE completion or equivalent (essential)
- White Card (essential)
- Maintenance of a current driver's license and MR vehicle licence (essential)
- Certificate III or IV in Horticulture (desirable)
- Work Zone Traffic Management (desirable)
- Qualifications and tickets in the following equipment, tractor with attachments, bob cat (loader), forklift and hand-held motorised / gardening plant (desirable)
To meet the demands of the role, you will need to be physically fit, possess strong communication skills, have a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to safety.
It is a requirement that you must be available to be on a rotational 'on-call' weekend roster.
