About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our Adelaide branch, reporting to the National Engineering Manager. The role involves leading the delivery of engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle – from concept and design through to manufacture, testing, and commissioning. It is an opportunity to work on complex, bespoke projects while providing technical leadership and mentoring within a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of custom-engineered mechanical solutions.
* Interpret customer requirements, technical specifications, and commercial objectives to develop compliant, cost-effective outcomes.
* Prepare and review design calculations, 3D models, detailed drawings, and Bills of Materials.
* Conduct design risk assessments, verification, and validation activities.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian and international standards and regulatory requirements.
* Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and development for engineers, designers, and drafters.
* Collaborate closely with sales, project management, procurement, manufacturing, and service teams.
* Engage with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
* Support prototype development, testing, and root cause analysis activities.
* Review and approve technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and manuals.
* Identify and drive opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and cost optimisation.
* Provide technical oversight during installation, commissioning, and post-delivery support.
About You
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or higher qualification).
* Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and application of engineered components.
* Proven expertise in hydraulic and lubrication systems.
* Experience delivering engineering projects and applying project management principles.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk or equivalent).
* Strong ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting team members.
* Sound technical judgment with strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
* Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
* Strong customer focus with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
* Professional engineering registration (or achievable within six months of commencing).
