Head Horse Trainer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Horse Trainer to join our team. The successful applicant will have the highest level of technical expertise in preparing horses for competitive polo seasons.
Key Responsibilities:
* Designing, implementing and managing overall horse care schedules for 10-15 horses considering diet, feed, exercise, training, age and well-being.
* Preparing individualised feeds, hay, and water for horses, medicines and/ or nutritional supplements as required.
* Maintaining and monitoring schedules and health records for all horses, including vaccinations, worming and shoeing.
* Monitoring horse health, identifying signs of illness or injury, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of equine first aid to identify health issues, and referring to veterinary specialists as required.
* Caring for and rehabilitating injured or sick horses.
Farm Management Responsibilities:
* Performing routine checks, adjustments and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment - eg trucks, tractors, utes and referring for repairs and general maintenance.
* Ensuring Vehicle Maintenance procedures are adhered to.
* Undertaking daily checks of water, fencing, and land for hazards - eg poisonous plants.
* Cleaning and performing minor service of water troughs.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Equine Studies - or equivalent.
* Extensive experience in equine care and management (minimum 5 years)/ equestrian/ polo, preferably with competition level horses.
* Excellent horseriding skills and experience including riding and handling horses of various temperaments - could include judging, show jumping.
* Farm/facility management experience.
* Current Driver's Licences - car and medium rigid truck licence and ability to handle farm equipment eg tractor.
