Primary objective
Provide administrative support to the Territory Prosecutions Division by utilising electronic brief management systems
(SerPro and Axon Justice) to ensure the timely delivery of evidence and facilitate the administrative process associated with
evidentiary disclosure and prosecution protocols.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide system, clerical and administrative support to Police Prosecutors, the public, Office of the Director of Public
Prosecutions (ODPP), Courts and Defence Counsel as directed.
2. Management of Witness Summons documents generated on behalf of the Territory Prosecutions Division.
1. Maintain databases, filing systems, indices and update records management.
2. Work as a team ensuring accountabilities for completion of tasks shared and are expected to support to each other in all
areas.
5. Review, redact, bookmark and share Body Worn Video Evidence for Local and Youth Justice Court matters.
1. Ensure all evidence contained within SerPro is uploaded to AXON and shared in accordance with the objective of the
role.
1. Respond and action the timely delivery of evidence when requested to do so by the DPP.
2. Management of all travel, accommodation and local transport requirements for witnesses and Prosecutors required for
court.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Effective written and oral communication skills and an ability to use a range of computer programs and their associated
software packages to conduct prosecutions related duties.
2. Knowledge and understanding of court and legal procedures.
3. Proven experience working in an administrative support area and proven experience in maintaining confidentiality within
a professional environment.
1. Ability to negotiate/resolve issues as they arise in a timely manner and work in a high-pressure environment.
2. Strong work ethics, attention to detail and the ability to set and maintain deadlines and work with limited supervision.
3. Ability to work in a support role within a rank-structured organisation, recognising and respecting protocols therein.
Desirable
1. Experience with Northern Territory (NT) Government systems applications.
2. Knowledge of the Local Court (Criminal Procedures) Act, court procedures and legal processes or the ability to quickly
obtain such knowledge, as it relates to summons.
3. Ability to travel to remote localities to support prosecution related administrative duties.
