Primary ObjectiveThe Civil Engineer is responsible for delivering civil engineering services across the planning, design, construction support and commissioning phases of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects undertaken by ACLE Services. The role supports the successful delivery of EPC and engineering services through technical design development, project documentation, cost estimation, construction supervision and close coordination with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with Australian standards and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities• Plan, design and review civil engineering works for utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.•Prepare, review and maintain civil engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, design reports and technical documentation in accordance with Australian Standards, client requirements and ACLE Services' engineering procedures.•Conduct feasibility assessments and provide civil engineering input into project proposals, tenders, EPC bids, cost estimates, bills of quantities and scopes of work.•Review and interpret geotechnical, topographical, hydrological and environmental investigation reports and incorporate findings into practical and constructible civil design solutions.•Ensure all civil designs and construction activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes of practice, environmental approvals, WHS requirements and statutory obligations.•Provide engineering support during planning, construction and commissioning phases, including site inspections and supervision of civil works to ensure compliance with approved designs, quality standards and project schedules.•Coordinate and manage external consultants and subcontractors, including geotechnical engineers, surveyors, drainage specialists, environmental consultants and civil contractors engaged by ACLE Services.•Liaise with local councils, authorities having jurisdiction, utility providers and other stakeholders to support permitting, approvals, inspections and compliance activities.•Collaborate closely with ACLE Services' electrical, structural and grid-connection engineering teams to ensure effective integration of civil infrastructure within overall project designs.•Assist Project Managers in managing construction risks, resolving technical issues, reviewing contractor submissions and implementing design changes as required.•Support procurement and tendering activities by evaluating contractor proposals, reviewing technical submissions and providing civil engineering recommendations.•Monitor construction progress, identify civil engineering issues and implement corrective actions to support timely and cost-effective project delivery.•Prepare engineering reports, progress updates and technical assessments for internal management, clients and project stakeholders.•Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing project outcomes and recommending enhancements to ACLE Services' civil engineering designs, processes and standards.•Work collaboratively within ACLE Services' multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication, coordination and successful project outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience•Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline, equivalent to Australian standards.•Minimum five (5) years of post-graduate professional experience working as a Civil Engineer on civil infrastructure, construction or large-scale engineering projects.•Demonstrated experience in the planning, design and delivery of civil engineering works, including earthworks, drainage systems, roadworks, pavements, foundations and underground services.•Proven ability to prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, technical specifications, design reports and construction documentation.•Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards, codes of practice and regulatory requirements relevant to civil engineering and construction.•Experience interpreting and applying geotechnical, topographical and hydrological investigation reports in civil design.•Practical experience providing engineering support during construction, including site inspections, supervision, quality control and resolution of technical issues.•Proficiency in AutoCAD and civil engineering design software, with strong computer and documentation skills.•Experience coordinating and managing external consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.•Familiarity with project cost estimation, bills of quantities, scopes of work and construction scheduling•Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment.•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, authorities and project stakeholders.
