Primary objective
Assist with the development and delivery of assigned Capital Works and Minor New Works and ensure project objectives
are achieved.
Context statement
The branch is integral to the Northern Territory Government’s efforts to support population growth and economic
development through the delivery of enabling land infrastructure and essential services.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist Senior Project Managers, with delivery of assigned projects. Travel to project sites and meetings with stakeholders
will be required.
2. Undertake review of design documentation including specifications.
3. Provide regular reporting on project delivery status, including on budget, time and meeting quality targets, in compliance
with environmental and safety standards.
4. Build and maintain professional working relationships with stakeholders.
5. Conduct site inspections and review conformance testing to ensure construction conforms with design documentation.
6. Ensure projects meet NT applicable requirements including NT Building Act, Construction Code and Australian Standards.
7. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunities and
environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Nationally recognised qualification in civil construction or equivalent experience directly relevant to the position.
2. Experience across various land servicing infrastructure i.e. roads, drainage, water and sewer mains, electrical (HV and LV)
and street lighting.
3. Well-developed skills and use of IT systems and software.
4. Good oral and written communications skills and knowledge of consultation and problem resolution techniques.
5. Ability to apply effective practical approaches to issues, analyse risk and be pro-active, flexible, manage pressure and
change, and meet deadlines.
6. Relevant knowledge and related experience in procurement, contract conditions and supervision of contracts.
7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders.
8. A current NT driver’s licence or equivalent, and physical ability to drive 4x4 vehicles for long distances, travel by various
means including by light aircraft, and preparedness to work for short periods in remote communities.
9. Northern Territory Construction Induction (White Card) or ability to obtain.
