About the OPPORTUNITY We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Software Development Project Manager to join our Operations Centre Integrated Project Team (IPT). This role is part of our JORN product portfolio and will be Adelaide based. This role is critical in steering software development delivery, leading a large engineering team, and supporting the IPT Lead in managing the broader portfolio of Systems, Integration and ICT activities. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role within a high‑performing team working on complex, mission‑critical capability. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight. Due to the nature of the role, this position will be based full time onsite at our Edinburgh Parks location in South Australia. Key responsibilities include: * Provide overall leadership and management of the Software Team to achieve project objectives. * Line manage ~30 software engineers and team leads within the IPT structure. * Coach and mentor software team leads to enhance capability and performance. * Managing financial performance in the role of Control Account Manager (CAM) for Software within the IPT. * Plan, track and report on software development activities, ensuring alignment to agreed schedules. * Monitor progress using Jira and promote effective Agile Scrum practices. * Apply project performance metrics, including Earned Value Management, to control project execution. * Take proactive recovery action where progress deviates from plan. * Work closely with other leads to manage interdependencies and resolve issues. * Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple contracts to ensure collaboration, transparency and aligned expectations. * Support IPT‑wide activities, including coordination of non‑software teams and participation in program-level forums. About YOU * Significant project management experience delivering multiple, complex projects. * Formal training in Project Management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2). * Proven experience leading large technical teams. * Demonstrated exposure to software development delivery across the full lifecycle. * Hands‑on experience with Agile Scrum and Project Performance Metrics (such as EVM). * Proficiency with Jira and project scheduling tools (e.g. Open Plan, Microsoft Project). * Current NV1 clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
