Senior Valuer - Specialist Valuations & Litigation
Urbis is seeking an experienced Senior Valuer to join our Specialist Valuations & Litigation team within our Economics & Property division in our Melbourne office.
The role will be supported by a highly experienced Director, Associate Director and a market leading team to assist the management and growth of Urbis' national Rating, Taxation and Advisory Team (RTA).
The senior valuer will manage a portfolio of retail assets, primarily within the states of South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia and liaise with key client and state/local government stakeholders.
As a core leadership role within the Victorian team there is a strong focus on both technical and cultural leadership, with the role requiring support for the wellbeing and development of younger colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Support our Victorian based leadership (Associate Director and Director) and assist the management and growth of Urbis' national Rating, Taxation and Advisory Team (RTA).
- Provide high quality written and verbal valuation advice to clients.
- Preparation of valuation modelling in accordance with relevant state-based legislation.
- Presentation of valuation contentions to valuation authorities and delegated representatives.
- Preparation and presentation (client) of annual forecasts of statutory charges and other project related activities as well as ad hoc client queries, engagement and research.
- Support and influence team members in servicing client requirements, as required.
- Development and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing weekly timesheets and input to monthly accounts; Tracking job costs and regularly reporting time and input to Director.
- Assisting with the development of proposals for potential clients.
- Coaching and developing individuals with the team, as appropriate; providing assistance and support to junior valuers.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of quality assurance and the Real Estate Advisory team's Business Plan.
- Effectively collaborating across teams at Urbis on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification and deadlines, within budget and with a focus on commercial outcome.
- Promoting the firm and its services to create business opportunities.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in Valuation either at graduate or post graduate level.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience and strong track record in a similar role.
- Certified Practising Valuer registration in Victoria is ideal.
- Preferred holding experience in statutory valuations within Victoria (or an aligned jurisdiction) including a sound knowledge of relevant statue and supporting case law, stakeholders and tax base.
- Effectively demonstrates project management skills by managing multiple assignments and/or projects and that of other team members within agreed timeframe and budget.
- Commits to achieving team goals and works towards team success.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to build rapport and effective working relationships with team members and clients.
- Strong grounding in relevant taxation principles and governance, primarily relating to direct property taxes such as council rates, land tax and other state levies, as well as public open space and other comparable contributions levies via the statutory valuation.
