Ripley Valley State Secondary College is seeking a Head of Department - English to lead years 7–9. The successful applicant will shape the culture, curriculum, and pedagogical practices of the College, with a clear focus on the English curriculum for Years 7 to 9. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in English, proven leadership, excellent communication, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. The role involves collaborating with the Head of Department - English (Years 10–12) and the wider Executive and Leadership Team to support diverse learning needs and promote effective literacy practices across the school.

About The Role
The ideal applicant should have a strong working knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in English and Senior Schooling pathways (QCAA), with preferred experience in moderation, assessment, and reporting guidelines, particularly related to the implementation of the 7–9 Australian Curriculum. The successful applicant will be required to case manage student behavior and learning as part of the College's Multi-Tiered System of Support and should have experience in case management to improve student outcomes. The successful applicant would ideally commence at the beginning of the 2026 school year.

- Leading the English department in line with school expectations and initiatives
- Participating in delivering the vision of Equity and Excellence
- Developing the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders
