Your role at St John of God Midland Private Hospital
An opportunity exists for an experienced Learning and Development Coordinator to play a pivotal role in implementing supporting learning and capability development across St John of God Midland Private Hospital, contributing to both operational excellence and long‑term strategic priorities.
This role coordinates and delivers standardised and locally tailored learning initiatives, evaluates their effectiveness, and plays a key role in establishing orientation and mandatory learning for new caregivers at the hospital, supporting capability, performance and a positive learning culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership, guidance and support to caregivers (including graduates), students and team members to achieve departmental and organisational objectives
* Inspire, motivate and coach others to deliver high-quality operational and strategic outcomes
* Coordinate recruitment, induction, onboarding, performance development and ongoing coaching of team members
* Support managers with performance review processes and the development and monitoring of performance development plans
* Contribute to service planning, problem solving and change management initiatives across the hospital/service
* Provide career advice and development guidance to graduates, including education pathways and employment opportunities
* Partner with department managers and key stakeholders to identify individual, local and organisational learning needs through learning needs analysis
* Coordinate interprofessional learning initiatives across clinical and non-clinical caregivers
* Collaborate with Talent Enablement and key stakeholders to design and deliver contemporary learning solutions where no organisation-wide program exists
* Coordinate the planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting of orientation programs, student placements, graduate programs and pathways-to-practice initiatives
* Support caregivers transitioning into the organisation or new roles through structured onboarding and learning frameworks
* Monitor, report and implement action plans related to compliance, quality, safety and risk-based learning requirements
* Maintain accurate learning records to support monitoring, reporting and future workforce planning
* Evaluate learning initiatives to measure impact, effectiveness and outcomes
* Plan, manage and monitor learning and development budgets in collaboration with the L&D Lead and key stakeholders
* Develop and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support education and workforce development outcomes
The successful candidate will possess relevant formal qualifications in education or a related discipline or demonstrate extensive equivalent experience in workforce education and development.
They will bring significant expertise in learning needs analysis and the design, delivery and evaluation of impactful learning initiatives, underpinned by a strong understanding of adult learning principles, contemporary educational practices and relevant legislative requirements.
Highly developed organisational, time management and leadership capabilities are essential, along with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

About the new Midland Private Hospital
* A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.
* A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region
* The hospital will feature:
o 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit.
o 33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit
o 8 operating theatres.
o A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory
We can offer you
* Salary: $124,196 to $137,946 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
* Permanent part-time position (0.8 FTE) – commence as soon as practicable
